What is
oily skin?
Oily skin tends to produce more sebum than necessary, leading to impurities and giving the skin a fatty and oily appearance. In medical practice, this is called seborrhoea. The so-called T-zone – this is the area between the forehead, nose and chin – is particularly affected by this condition.
A weaker blood circulation often gives the skin a pale and pallid look. Different reasons such as stress, genetic predisposition, or hormonal variations are the main reasons for oily skin tending to acne breakouts. Affected people often have to deal with these issues not only during puberty, but also during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, before menstruating, or after quitting hormonal contraceptive methods.
The good news is: compared to normal skin, oily skin tends to stay toned for longer and wrinkles appear later on in age. It is also more resilient to environmental influences such as heat and cold or damages caused by sun exposure.
Characteristics: fatty, oily, and shiny skin, larger pores, thicker than normal skin, often pale and pallid, tends to impurities in zones other than the T-zone
